[If Implemented, US-EU Tariff Deal Could Severely Impact EU Clean Technology Sector]The tariff agreement between the US and the EU has dealt a particularly heavy blow to EU clean technology manufacturers. NEVs and power grid equipment manufacturers, accounting for 52% and 27% of EU clean technology exports, respectively, are poised to bear the brunt of the impact. The EU's clean technology industry has been thriving, largely driven by demand from US buyers. Last year, the sector achieved a 58% growth rate, exporting clean technology products worth $84 billion, with $20 billion destined for the US. The new tariff agreement now threatens the future of this robust trade relationship. On July 27, the EU agreed to impose a comprehensive 15% tariff on all goods exported to the US. Although automakers are exempt from the 27.5% tariff effective April 3, some companies in the NEV value chain worry that even a 15% tariff could undermine EU competitiveness. (Cailian Press)
